Visual Art

Visual Art

Students of Prep Sr were shown audio visuals of various paintings of the past and had a brainstorming session about how Art has changed over the years. They were curious to know what digital art is and who is a graphic designer.

In their Art room students were then introduced to Canvas and acrylic painting for the very first time by the Art teacher. They were curious to know what is a canvas and how can we use it ...they demonstrated a lot of enthusiasm and were excited to paint on their individual canvasses.
Students were completely engaged and used their imagination and experiences to inform their art making. They painted the base first and later drew an image on the canvas. They took responsibility for the care of tools and materials in the Art room and did their painting with ease and interest.
Students developed the PYP attitudes of creativity , confidence, commitment as well as appreciation.
A glimpse of our lil artists at work....

Then and Now - Gallery Walk

Central Idea -Learning about previous lifestyle helps us understand the relationship between the past and the present

As we have rolled on with our new unit of inquiry – ‘Then and Now’, our students got the opportunity to see and explore a wide variety of unique and exclusive artifacts of the yester years through a Gallery Walk. They saw olden days telephones, utensils, geyser, lanterns, gramophone, postcards, coins, cameras and many more. Students were fascinated to see the telescope and had ample questions to ask. They shared their perspectives and were able to make connections with the central idea. They were actively engaged in knowing about lifestyle of the past and could think of how life has changed now. For e.g A child said, ‘We don’t need to hook up our telephones to a wire, we have cordless phones and mobiles now’.
The Gallery walk laid the foundation for further inquiry and added meaning to their learning journey!!

We thank all the parents and grandparents to share their olden days artifacts with our students and giving them the opportunity to get a glimpse of the previous lifestlyes!!
