Central Idea -Learning about previous lifestyle helps us understand the relationship
between the past and the present
As we have rolled
on with our new unit of inquiry – ‘Then and Now’, our students got the
opportunity to see and explore a wide variety of unique and exclusive artifacts
of the yester years through a Gallery Walk. They saw olden days telephones,
utensils, geyser, lanterns, gramophone, postcards, coins, cameras and many more.
Students were fascinated to see the telescope and had ample questions to ask.
They shared their perspectives and were able to make connections with the
central idea. They were actively engaged in knowing about lifestyle of the past
and could think of how life has changed now. For e.g A child said, ‘We don’t
need to hook up our telephones to a wire, we have cordless phones and mobiles
now’.
The Gallery walk
laid the foundation for further inquiry and added meaning to their learning journey!!
We thank all the parents and grandparents to share their olden days artifacts with our students and giving them the opportunity to get a glimpse of the previous lifestlyes!!
